The Village Music Club 2004 - 2005

All concerts are held at St. John's Church, Stansted. The Village Music Club presents a season of concerts from established musicians and rising stars, aiming to bring music of a broad appeal to audiences of all ages from Stansted and the surrounding villages in the friendly atmosphere of St. John's Church.

NINTH SEASON

Following an eighth Season which included wonderful performances by Damian Girvin and Jack Liebeck, the Zephyr Quartet and Rodney Clarke, we have a yet another programme of outstanding musicians booked for the 2004 - 2005 season!

City of London Sinfonia

Directed by Nicholas Ward. 

This renowned chamber orchestra performs throughout the country and is famous for their innovative and exciting programmes.  At this concert we will hear Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Dvorak's Serenade, a Mendelssohn String Symphony and Barber's famous Adagio.

Bobby Chen Piano

Bobby Chen is a rising star who made his debut at the Wigmore Hall in 2003.

This annual concert sponsored by The Countess of Munster – Recital Scheme will include the Mozart Sonata in B flat, Beethoven's “Moonlight” Sonata, Chopin's great B minor Sonata, and works by Britten and Debussy

Catrin Finch Harp

The first Royal Harpist appointed to Prince Charles, Catrin follows a long tradition which started when Robert Ap Huw became harpist to Edward I in the 15th Century.

Catrin will delight us with a programme including works by Bach, Debussy, Albeniz and others, and will also give us an informal demonstration and explanation of this most ancient of instruments.

The Carducci Quartet

Matthew Denton Violin, Katlin VarnagyViolin,  Graham Broadbent Viola, Emma‘Cello

This Quartet, formed in 1993, has won prizes throughout Europe for its outstanding technical performances.  They will play Haydn's String Quartet Opus 20 No 4 in D, Ravel's String Quartet in F and “From My Life”, Smetena's String Quartet No 1 in E Minor.
