Essex Fraud Alert
/in News /by Emma PhilbrickUttlesford Citizens Advice
/in News /by Emma PhilbrickWe are pleased to report that Uttlesford Citizens Advice telephone advice service is fully operational – our fully trained volunteers and members of staff are ready to offer support and advice to your residents to help them with any concerns they may have regarding benefit entitlements, consumer rights, money worries, employment rights and housing issues during this difficult time. To access the service, people should call 01799 618840 and leave a short message with their name, telephone number and postcode and one of our advisers will call back as soon as they are able.
The team at Uttlesford Frontline have put together some useful factsheets, which you may like to share with others in your community. The first
gives information about employment and consumer rights as well as help available if people are worried about a reduction in their income.
The second gives details of local help and support for those that are housebound and self-isolating. Both are regularly updated.
Both can be downloaded by going to www.uttlesfordfrontline.org.uk and searching the library of services for ‘covid’.
SCAM ALERT
/in News /by Emma PhilbrickWe have received the following from a council colleague:
I have just had a phone conversation with a friend who today received a call from a number in Cleveland nr Bristol. The caller pretended to be calling on behalf of the government given he is over the age of 70 offering him a free device for his home that would provide medical assistance if he were to fall or become unwell. The value of this device would be paid for by the government but the maintenance fee needed to be paid by the homeowner some £29.99. At this point my friend was asked for bank account details etc… it was then he realised it was a scam and politely declined. Apparently the caller was very articulate and quite credible.
Please pass this onto as many people as possible but especially any neighbours not on FaceBook.

PARISH COUNCIL CONSULTATION – THE FUTURE OF CRAFTON GREEN HOUSE
/in News /by Emma PhilbrickPARISH COUNCIL CONSULTATION – THE FUTURE OF CRAFTON GREEN HOUSE
The Parish Council is launching a consultation on the future of our old office building, Crafton Green House. Having given serious consideration as to whether this is the right time to undertake a consultation, we decided to go ahead. With more people at home, and perhaps with more time on their hands, we might reach a wider audience than we would under “normal” circumstances. Our original plan was to hold a longer public participation session than usual ahead of our Council Meeting on 29 April, and then members would take their decision at a further meeting on 6 May. However, all of that will now remain under review given the current circumstances caused by Covid-19.
Please take some time to read the document and send your considered response by email to parishcouncil@stansted.net or by post to Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council, The Mountfitchet Exchange, Crafton Green, 72 Chapel Hill, Stansted, Essex CM24 8AQ
