Remembrance Sunday

The Parish Council is working on plans for this year’s commemoration on Sunday 8 November.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the event will not be open to the general public but we are hoping to hold a simple wreath-laying ceremony in the Memorial Gardens with Rev’d Paul Wilkin officiating – this will be recorded and the video made available on our website and social media.  We shall be asking parishioners to “take part” by standing on their doorsteps for 11am to observe the silence.

In order to comply with all Covid-19 guidelines, it is essential that we know exactly which organisations would like to lay a wreath.  We can invite only one representative from each organisation to be present and, if the Rule of Six applies to this event (confirmation awaited), then you will be given a precise time to arrive, lay your wreath and depart.

Please may I ask you therefore to let me know by 5PM ON MONDAY 5 OCTOBER by emailing

  • The name of your organisation
  • The name of your representative who will lay the wreath
  • An email address and telephone number for this representative
  • Confirmation that you have ordered your wreath from Craig Willcox

Thank you for your assistance.

Message from NHS Test and Trace

This is a public health message from NHS Test and Trace

As part of the government’s coordinated response to Coronavirus, NHS Test and Trace has developed the new NHS COVID-19 app.

It is now available for download to all residents of England and Wales. We strongly recommend that everyone over the age of 16 downloads and uses it.

Download the ‘NHS COVID-19’ app from the App Store or Google Play. There is more information at

The app will help you to understand and manage your personal risk and reduce the spread of Coronavirus. The more people who use it, the more effective it will be.

The app requires operating system 13.5 or above if you have an Apple iPhone. It requires Android 6.0 or above if you have an Android phone. If your smartphone is not compatible, you can still access full support from the NHS Test and Trace service.

Highways England Notification of roadworks – M11 Junction 7 to 8

Important roadworks information

Dear Sir/Madam

M11 junction 7 to 8: drainage renewal

I write to inform you that we’ll be carrying out essential drainage renewal works at the above location, in both directions.

We plan to complete this work over eleven weeks, from Monday 5 October to Friday 18 December, working between the hours of 7.30am to 6pm, subject to weather conditions. The work will be carried out under lane closures which will be in place 24 hours a day, alongside our weekend closures detailed below.

There will be four weekend full closures on the M11 northbound between junctions 7 and 8 from Friday 6 November to Monday 9 November, Friday 13 November to Monday 16 November, Friday 20 November to Monday 23 November, and Friday 4 December to Monday 7 December, working between the hours of Friday 10pm to Monday 5am.

Diversion routes

Traffic will be diverted off the M11 at junction 7 to join the A414, along the A10 northbound and onto the A120 eastbound, to re-join the M11 at junction 8. We expect this will add approximately 35 minutes to your journey.

A diagram of the diversion route can be found below:

Please be aware, there are also works taking place on behalf of Essex County Council on the M11 at junction 7a, this work will continue once our works are completed on Friday 18 December. If you have any queries about this work, please contact Essex County Council directly.

Please be assured all our sites have strict safeguarding measures to prevent the spread of COVID19 and none of our sites are open to the public. We will be carrying out all works following safety guidelines set by the Government.

Firework Event – Cancelled

Firework Event

Due to the current COVID -19 situation and taking on board the current Government advice that any large group events should not take place, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel our Firework Event this year.

This event is something we have always enjoyed organising for the community and we hope to be back next year with a bigger and better display to make up for the disappointment of this year.
