Windmill Fete

Surely, there can be no better way to spend your bank holiday than by taking a tour of the mill, indulging in some delicious cakes, while taking the chance to smash up crockery at this year’s fete.

If you have time to knock out a cake or two over the weekend, or perhaps have a bit of china in need of creative destruction all the better. Fete organisers will only be too thankful to accept your contributions on both these fronts.

Funds raised from the fete will go towards the upkeep of this village treasure and help keep it open for the public.

Refugee Donations

TouchPoint Stansted* are one of 6 locations in Essex where the public can donate clothing for refugees from Afghanistan. There’s still time to drop off suitable clothes & toys at Crafton Green House where the community organisation has volunteers sorting through donations.

HOW TO HELP

Donations go DIRECT TO THE RECIPIENTS at their accommodation. For this reason TouchPoint ask:

  • If you could please SEPARATE DONATED ITEMS into different bags by type e.g. clothing, toiletries, games etc
  • If you could LABEL THE BAGS e.g. “Men’s Clothing Size Medium”, “Girls’ Clothes Aged 4-5 years” and so on, as in the photo below.
  • And if you could ensure any clothes are clean and dry

There is a particular need for toiletries, NEW underwear, shoes (& flip flops)

Also please hand your donation to a member of the TouchPoint team. DO NOT leave items outside or at any other time. This could cause access problems for other users of Crafton Green.

Your thoughts, please!

We are after your views on how to revitalise the recreational space at Mountfitchet Green.

If you live on the Mountfitchet Estate, or close by, and use the Mountfitchet Green for recreational use, we would like to hear your views on our proposed new layout for the recreational space there.

Our plan has been shaped by your response to an initial round of community consultation on August 11 when we letter-dropped to houses facing the Green, inviting people to meet with us and share their ideas.

Residents who responded suggested relocating the zip wire and incorporating a 5-a-side pitch between the play area and existing multi-purpose sports area. These ideas that have now been built into our proposal.

Our plans are still in the formative stage. All suggestions on how to improve this part of Stansted for its residents are very much welcome.

You can email your ideas to laila.azure-marxen@stansted.net or leave a comment under the accompanying post on the Parish Council’s facebook page.

For a more detailed outline of our proposal please read the attached document:

The consultation ends September 5, 2021.

Biodiversity Mapping

Calling all nature lovers. Know your sparrow hawks from your kestrels? Then why not put your knowledge to good use and fill out Uttlesford’s biodiversity map.

By updating the map you could play a part in creating over a million acres of joined up habitats across the country.

As it stands the map for Uttlesford has had a bit of input for Turner Spring and Aubrey Buxton nature reserves.

Any extra insight shared of the village’s wildlife population would be greatly appreciated.

Wilkins’ Crescent Consultation

Let us know your thoughts on our proposal to install new play equipment on Wilkin’s Crescent.

We are proposing to install new play equipment near Wilkin’s Crescent as part of a wider plan to provide increased play equipment and socialising opportunities for

the residents of Foresthall Park. This is a consequence of the Council recently becoming responsible for the green spaces at Foresthall Park including the maintenance and improvement of the playgrounds there.

NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT ON WILKIN’S CRESCENT

• Within the fenced off area we will install a slide and a swing, suitable for children aged 2-6.These items are reused from Reeve Road and have been inspected and repaired prior to installation.

• On the outside of the fenced off play area we propose to install one new piece of equipment. This will be a trim trail with 8 different modules, suitable for children aged 6-12. The Council seeks the resident’s opinion on which modules to include in the design – please continue reading to find out how to participate in the public consultation!

The Council believes that the residents and potential users of the playground should be able to voice their opinion on play equipment being installed. We have sourced 16 different modules which provide climbing and balance challenges. To participate in the public consultation of the trim trail please do as follows:

• Pick your top 8 of the 16 options on page 2 of the pdf file:

PUBLIC CONSULTATION: WILKINS CRESCENT

• Send your response via email or by letter – see address below

• If you have any other comments, please include these as well

• Please respond by 22.08.2021
