Uttlesford District Council has announced dates when you can park for free in its car parks in the run up to Christmas.
HIGHWAYS ROUNDUP
Our Highways sub-committee met in October to discuss the various traffic issues currently impacting on Stansted. Here is a round-up of the key points raised.
BENTFORD BURY CLOSURE
Bentfield Bury Road will shut for 5 days from November 21 to allow for the safety of the public and workforce while foul water connection works are undertaken by Robert Swann Ltd.
CHURCH ROAD CLOSURES
We are sorry to report there is to be a SECOND five-day closure of Church Road in November.
M11 ROADWORKS
National Highways have provided an update on the their work affecting the M11, junctions 7 to 10 in October.
ROUNDABOUT ROADWORKS
In the coming weeks work by Essex County Council to the north end of Birchanger Lane will see the lane closed, except for work access until spring 2023.
CHURCH ROAD CLOSURE
A diversion will be in operation from November 7 to November 11 along Church Road. Read more

MOTORWAY ROADWORKS PAUSED
Planned closures of major routes in and out of London will be postponed to reduce congestion as large numbers of people travel to the capital for ceremonial and commemorative events to mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
M11 Roadworks
The postponed schedule of roadworks that had been planned for the summer, are now to get under way from this weekend.
M11 junction 8 Birchanger Green Roundabout, north and south bridges
National Highways report the are set to resume work to complete essential repairs and resurfacing on the M11 junction 8, Birchanger Green Roundabout bridges. This work will ensure the bridges continue to remain in a safe and serviceable condition.
The work is to restart on Friday 9 September and expect to complete it on Tuesday 11 October, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, National Highways will need to close the bridges. Only one bridge will be closed at a time to reduce the impact on local road users and those needing access to Stansted Airport and Birchanger Green Services.

M11 northbound traffic wishing to travel east will continue on the M11 to junction 9a before re-joining the M11 southbound to exit at junction 8, Birchanger Green Roundabout.
A120 eastbound traffic will be diverted northbound on the M11 towards junction 9a before re-joining the M11 southbound to exit at junction 8, Birchanger Green Roundabout and continue east.
Non-motorway users Only Eastbound traffic will be diverted from the A120 along the B1383, then turn right to follow Forest Hall Road and Church Road, before travelling south along Bury Lodge Lane and Round Coppice Road to join the A120 at Priory Wood Roundabout.

M11 southbound traffic wishing to travel west towards Bishop’s Stortford will continue on the M11 to junction 7 before re-joining the M11 northbound to exit at junction 8, Birchanger Green Roundabout.
A120 westbound traffic will be diverted southbound on the M11 towards junction 7 before re-joining the M11 northbound to exit at junction 8, Birchanger Green Roundabout and continue west.
Non-motorway users only Westbound traffic will be diverted from Priory Wood Roundabout, along Round Coppice Road, onto Bury Lodge Lane, turn left to follow Church Road and Forest Hall Road to join the B1383 south to the A120 at Bishops Stortford. |
As well as the bridge repair work, National Highways will also be carrying out further work on the M11 between junctions 7 and 10 in both directions. Details of closures are as follows:
