Essex Police Update – Uttlesford
A monthly newsletter by Essex Police detailing their activities in Uttlesford
Each year the Parish Council sets aside funds to support policing in our community.
A Police Community Support Officer is shared between ourselves, Elsenham and Henham. Each of the three parish councils contribute to fund the position. The £10,200 we spend employing a PCSO means our community benefits from safer streets and a more reassuring police presence.
In 2022 to support our PCSO and boost police ties to the community, we invested a little over £1000 to fund a Special Police Constable to focus solely on our village.

Steve Dale
SPC Steve Dale is an experienced special police constable who recently swapped his beat from Newport to Stansted. where he is a long-standing resident. He feels especially proud to now being served his community. As a special constable he has the same authority as a full time officer.

Alex Stewart
Police Community Support Officer Alex Stewart has been with us since the start of the year, having replaced previous post holder Nikki Morris. PCSO Stewart is particularly keen to work with residents to reduce the kind of low level crime that affects our village.
PCSO Stewart conducts regular patrols of the village, assist with SpeedWatch to reduce dangerous driving along our roads, and participate in police operations to clamp down on knife crime and county lines drug activities. SPC Dale is contracted to work 17.5hrs a week as a special police constable for our community.
The community police team also set up and help run events to educate residents how to avoid scams, prevent theft and report crime.
They also make themselves available to residents at regular meet-ups held at various spots around the village including the TouchPoint Cafe at the Day Centre on Thursdays, and outside the Co-op Store on Lower Street, among other locations.
See the details of their next street meet-ups opposite.
