GREEN HOMES GRANTS

If you apply before the end of March, you could get £10k to put towards reducing your household energy bills.

Under the Green Home Grant scheme, homeowners with an income of below £30k a year can apply for funding to improve the energy efficiency of their home.

Funding is also available for private landlords, local authority-owned properties and social housing. However, a 33% contribution from the landlord is required and the maximum funding per property is £5,000.

The scheme covers improvements costs for:

  • insulation
  • heating, excluding gas and oil boilers
  • heating controls
  • hot water systems
  • ventilation
  • solar thermal
  • solar PV
  • lighting

To qualify, you need to live in Essex and your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating will need to be D, E, F or G. You can check your EPC rating
