ROUNDABOUT ROADWORKS
In the coming weeks work by Essex County Council to the north end of Birchanger Lane will see the lane closed, except for work access until spring 2023.
During this time, the bus stops and services will be diverted. Information will be posted at https://www.essexhighways.org/m11-junction-8-improvement-scheme
The work is required so ECC can install new drainage, ducting, kerbing and a pavement on the southbound verge along Birchanger Lane, before linking the existing lane into the new road alignment.
On the A120 Eastbound embankment. excavation work on behalf of ECC has started to prepare the area for piling and capping beam works. The two-way lights and narrow lanes installed there now will be in operation 24-hours, so please allow extra time for your journeys.
This Essex County Councils scheme for the junction 8 roundabout aims to improve access between the M11 and A120 with London Stansted Airport, Bishop’s Stortford, Birchanger Services and Takeley, and to reduce congestion and improve capacity on the M11 Junction 8 exit slip sand the A120.
Please note this scheme is separate to the ongoing National Highways bridge works also taking place in the area.
Work to the roundabout and roads at Birchanger started earlier this year and is expected to take around 18 months to complete.
