Northbound M11 Roadworks
Tis the season for M11 roadworks it seems, after yesterday’s update that repairs to a bridge over the motorway would stretch into January, the National Highways have announced that essential drainage renewal work lasting until April now needs to be carried out to the M11 northbound between junctions 7 and 8.
National Highways plan to complete this work over 17 weeks between Thursday 9 December and Thursday 31 March, weather conditions permitting and excluding the Christmas period, 21 December to 4 January 2022. Once completed this section of the motorway should be able to better disperse surface water and less prone to flooding.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M11, and divert traffic as detailed below:
- Sunday 5 December to Friday 17 December (overnight closures excluding Saturdays, between 11pm and 5am)
- Friday 17 December to Monday 20 December (full weekend closure from 11 pm Friday to 5am Monday)
- Friday 14 January to Monday 17 January 2022 (full weekend closure from 11pm Friday to 5am Monday )
Whilst the M11 is closed, northbound traffic will be diverted off at junction 7 onto the A414, A10 and A120 to re-join the M11 at junction 8.
Between Tuesday 4 January and Thursday 31 March, a lane 1 and 2 closure will be in place between junctions 7 and 8, but one lane will remain open to traffic.
For safety reasons, a 50mph speed restriction will also be in place for the duration of this work.
