Raise money for the Stansted Millers on Race Night on March 25

RACE NIGHT

If you have never experienced the thrill of a Miller’s Race Night here is your chance.

The Stansted Millers are putting on a Race Night at the Stansted Day Centre on Saturday, March 25 – their first such event since their last in 2018.

A Race Night offers you the thrilling rush of excitement that goes with being at a real horse racing event without the need to suffer the mud and the rain of an outdoor event.

Not only that, but the Race Night also serves as a fantastic excuse to raise some money for the village’s most well-known landmark.

So how does it work?

In a nutshell, you place £1 bets on horses in a series of races that are shown on a cine-screen. A race reel — 16mm film to add a real retro feel — is chosen at random, with the backers of the winning horse sharing the proceeds of the stake money put down on that particular race. “It’s just a series of quirky raffles really, but great fun and can be riotous,” say organisers.
The Stansted Millers are keeping costs down by inviting you to bring your own food and drinks. Tickets are £5 and doors open at 7.30pm (8pm start).
The Stansted Day Centre has a capacity of 60. You can reserve tickets by contacting the Miller’s Richard Thomas on 01279 813871. Leave your name and the number of tickets you would like if there is no one to take your call.
