Stansted in Bloom – Response
RESPONSE TO STANSTED IN BLOOM SOCIAL MEDIA POST –
THE STANSTED MOUNTFITCHET PARISH COUNCIL
We wish to correct some mis-information quoted in the post by Ali Browne on behalf of Stansted in Bloom.
1 At no time did the Parish Clerk request that the money be returned to the Parish Council. Cllr Barnes (Chairman of the Open Spaces Committee) had suggested that this might be the right thing to do as:
a) The three officers of the committee had resigned and the group was therefore unconstitutional, and
b) This left the SiB group without adequate authorised signatories and therefore it could not legitimately operate its bank account.
The group was asked by Cllr Barnes not to write an article in the Link until the new committee was established and had a working name.
The Stansted in Bloom name has been associated with the Parish Council for in excess of 20 years so it is considered that a fresh group should have a fresh name to meet its wish to stand alone from the Council.
The Parish Council is pleased that the competition was a success this year and hopes it will continue to grow.
