Stansted’s community has grown in recent years. The latest estimates suggest that more than 8,873 people live in the village, up from 6,669 as detailed in the 2011 census.
While the population has grown, provision of services has struggled to match the extra demand. It’s telling the village still has only one dispensing chemist, Boots, on Cambridge Road.
Compounding the problem is Stansted’s geography. More than 30 percent of the population is over the age of 50 and the steepness of Chapel Hill, which links the north and the south of the village, can present a formidable obstacle for many of our elderly residents who lack transport but need get to the existing pharmacy at the top of the hill.
The survey is used by Essex County Council to assess pharmacy provision in communities across the county. By completing it you could improve access to a dispensing chemists for many of our residents.
The deadline to complete the survey has been extended until next Monday.
