Stansted Mountfitchet
Neighbourhood Watch
Although Stansted NhW is in its infancy it has been up and running for almost eighteen months. We have 90 co-ordinators within the village, who look after the interests of residents within their respective areas.
A small steering group exists who meet a week before the main public meeting, in order to discuss any problems that may have arisen since then.
Our main public meetings are as follows: The last Wednesday in January, May and September and are held in the Stansted Free Church Lecture Hall, Chapel Hill, all at 7.30 pm.
The date of the next meeting is: Wednesday 27th January 2010.
If you are interested in being involved in NhW in any way please contact either one of the following: Cllr. Valerie Trundle (01279) 813433 or Mrs Diane (01279) 813089

Stansted Helpline...
...was launched by the then Stansted Association of Christian Churches in order to offer practical assistance to those Stansted residents who may have no friends or relatives nearby who are able to help.
Helpline is able to offer, for example; transport, companionship, shopping, collecting prescriptions etc. and are able to provide information, advice and contact numbers for other organisations.
The service can be contacted 9am-4pm Monday to Friday by telephoning : 07704 553727 This is a mobile telephone held by one of ten volunteers, on a rota basis, who log the requests. A comprehensive list of approximately 45 volunteers, is then consulted to select a suitable volunteer to whom the ‘client’ is put in touch.
Over the years the requests for help have been many, varied and sometimes challenging and it is very rare indeed that Helpline is unable to assist. Requests for transport outnumber by far other needs and more volunteers are always welcome for this. Volunteers to join the wider band of helpers are also welcomed. Helpline depends entirely on the willingness of unpaid volunteers both to take the requests and, more importantly, to implement them. The service, funded entirely by donations from both individuals and other village organisations, has been operating successfully since 1984.

Stansted Lunch Club
Established and Run by Alastair Richardson
Originally founded as a forum in which the Council could meet and maintain a dialogue with the local business community, as a powerful networking opportunity for local businesses and as a pleasant interlude in congenial and stimulating company. In the event, networking and the pleasant interlude have become the dominant features and 'local' has come to mean more or less anywhere within an hour's drive of Stansted. The Club is all the richer for the diversity that this brings to its events.
Alastair is also a trustee and treasurer of St. Clare Hospice
Spangles Children's Centre
Spangles is a Sure Start Children's Centre. We provide services and activities to support parents in the everyday challenges that they face in bringing up young children. Sure Start Children's Centres are currently opening across the United Kingdom, and by 2010 the Government aims to have a Children's Centre in every community.
